[Here's a guest post from Christine Bottagaro, CMO, Rogue Wave Software]
Our product set is broad and varied. And with last year’s acquisitions, it became clear we needed to tell a different story.
A few years ago we rode the HPC horse, which made a lot of sense. We have deeply technical, solidly entrenched products that play in the large systems, large applications environment. That was challenged by last year’s acquisitions of OpenLogic (SaaS OSS scanning, support, and auditing) and Klocwork (on-the-fly static code analysis). How do they fit into the HPC story? They don’t.
We realized that, and locked ourselves in a room until we came up with a new storyline (truth be told, it was actually over a few weeks.) We brought in different points of view, asked ourselves a litany of questions, whiteboarded different options, got to the fundamentals of our business, and played with words. We tested, refined, tested, and refined. It wasn’t easy. But the process was important. Bringing different voices into the conversation, getting to the core of what defines us, trying out different ideas, and working towards resolution. If we hadn’t been faced with the need to reinvent our message, we might not have. And we’re better for having done so.
Like a lot of answers, it was right there in front of us. Code. Ones and zeros. We care about code. Code matters. That is the thread that binds our solutions.
We now talk about the capabilities our solutions give our customers. How we empower them to accelerate great code.
Our new websites: roguewave.com, openlogic.com, and klocwork.com bear the fruit of that effort. We’ve carefully tended our new capabilities icons to ensure they tell the story from the customer’s view, and profiled our broad set of products to ensure the value we bring to software development is clear and understandable.
We care about the code — and those who develop it. Our job is to help code be better: functional, reliable, and secure. You’ll hear this when we talk to customers, analysts and each other. And now, you’ll see it on our site, because it is truly what we believe.
